The quest for the sand cat is an interesting one which begin in Dakhla. A few hours of driving into the desert and you are in the middle of nowhere, the animal density is incredibly low and the only life one encounters are vans bursting with people trying to make their way out of Africa to Europe and other place.

It's so hot here that wildlife only emerges by night so during the day we try to sleep through 40 degrees. As dusk falls over us, we have a light dinner and head out into the sand, shining flashlights and looking for eyes that catch the reflection of the light.
